On to MLC

Freshman Ministry Day

In the winter, the MLS freshmen enjoy Ministry Day, as they have the opportunity to listen to pastors, teachers and missionaries speak about the joys of serving God's people in the public ministry of the gospel.

Sophomore College Tour

Each fall all MLS sophomores take the MLS College Tour, a bus trip to visit the campuses of Martin Luther College, our synod's college of ministry, and of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, our finishing school for pastors.

Junior Night

In late fall juniors and their parents or family representatives spend an entertaining and enlightening evening at MLS Junior Night. The program for this evening focuses on ministry with speakers and entertainment provided by the WELS schools that train public ministers of the gospel.

Second Look

Second Look gives Juniors and Seniors a second chance to see Martin Luther College again to help them make the college choices. It also gives those students who have not yet seen MLC to see it for the first time.

Taste of Ministry

Seniors are offered release time from classes to permit them to experience a Taste of Ministry. Senior boys may discover what it is like to be a pastor by spending a three-day weekend with a host pastor from the Michigan District. Activities are as varied and interesting as the hosting congregations are different.

Both boys and girls may experience the teaching ministry in the classrooms of one of the WELS elementary schools in the Michigan district. Students assist teachers in the classroom for a full day and a half, also having the opportunity to spend the night with their teacher host.
