Former MLS Prof. MacNeill Taken To Glory
Duane MacNeill, who taught at MLS, 1963-1973, died today in Alpena, MI.
Prof. MacNeill taught algebra, geometry and phy ed at MLS, and coached track, wrestling, cross country and football. The 1972 yearbook says, "Underclassmen look up to him as the hard-hearted coach and geometry professor, but those of who know him realize that he has a great sense of humor and a kind heart." Richard Gibson (MLS '72), principal of St. Croix Lutheran High School in West St. Paul, MN, writes on his website, "My most memorable high school teacher was Coach Duane MacNeill, who was my geometry teacher, track coach, and wrestling coach. He was inspiring, and he taught clearly."
Current MLS professors who guest-preach at Faith, Alpena (ELS), often saw Prof. MacNeill in attendance at worship. He was in a wheelchair after a recent accident, but he continued to confess the faith in Jesus as his Savior that he passed on to his students.
Blessed are those who die in the Lord.
