The 2nd Annual MLS Volunteer Weekend was another success!  A big thank you goes out to the fifty-one volunteers who worked hard on Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31, to complete projects that really make a difference in the way our campus looks.  Nineteen of those fifty-one volunteers worked both days for a combined total of 500 hours of time, resulting in budget savings of over $7,500.00!
 
 Things done by the volunteers included

1. Scraping and painting over 20 two-story concrete exterior columns on the Court Street side of 1963 portion of the academic building
2. Re-painting the furniture and railings in the commons
3. Removing old ceiling tiles and replacing them with new tiles in 6 classrooms
4. Re-painting interior and exterior door frames throughout the academic areas of the campus 
5. Painting student room doors on three floors of the boys dorm with two coats of paint 
6. Removing, cleaning, and spray painting hallway heating unit covers 
7. Complete re-lamping and cleaning of light fixtures in 7 classrooms 
8. Trimming shrubs and weeding planting beds across most of the campus 
9. Complete cleaning and reorganizing of the Tower Room storage area
   

 
The MLS food service provided the volunteers with beverages, snacks, and meals during the two days of work.  The breaks and meals included good conversation between volunteers—and conversations continued during the work sessions.
 
While there were some sore muscles from bending, squatting, and reaching; some new calluses and scratches; and some very tired bodies in general each day, the volunteers left campus pleased with the positive difference they made in the way MLS looks.  The whole Seminary Family appreciates their time and effort on behalf of our school.
