Partners in Our Mission

The purpose of MLS from the beginning has been to encourage and train called workers and congregational leaders to proclaim God’s Word to His people and to the nations. For more than 100 years, an average of 40 to 50 percent of graduates from MLS have gone on to study for public ministry in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).
Today, MLS graduates, together with graduates from our sister school (Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI) account for more than half of the pastors in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, and about one-third of teachers in the WELS.
Post-Secondary Education Partners
Those who show gifts and interest for public gospel ministry are encouraged to enroll at Martin Luther College (MLC) for continuing study.
Graduates of Martin Luther College who wish to become pastors in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod will continue their study at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.
Partners in the Student Experience

Counseling Care for Students & Families
MLS is a family of believers that continues to support and strengthen each other, using all the resources God graciously provides. MLS students and families have access to Christ-centered mental health care and services from Christian Family Solutions, a counseling care and services agency affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

Taste of Ministry
Each senior is paired up with an experienced teacher or pastor for a multi-day “behind the scenes” look at the life of a called worker. Many students help with Sunday worship or classroom instruction, as well as informally interacting with the called worker and church/school families. Several senior young men are often paired with mission pastors in various states around the country.

Project Titus Mission Trip Program
Since 1981, MLS students have traveled throughout the summer months to cities across the country and around the world. These trips offer an amazing opportunity for cross-cultural immersion and outreach experiences. Students often help organize and run various programs with their host congregations – soccer camps, music camps, Vacation Bible School, and more. Students gain real life experience in a mission field often very different from their own. They come home exhausted by the amount of work (and fun!) but encouraged to continue their training for the public ministry of the gospel.
