Student Life at MLS

The final classroom bell rings at 3:00 p.m. to announce the end of the school day. But at MLS, that isn’t the last bell of the day. The afternoon and evening are still abuzz with activity on campus, whether it’s students going to work out in the weight room, heading to a group meeting for an extracurricular, or simply going into the dorms to relax before study hall. Bells continue to ring into the evening to let students know when their next activity, meeting, or free time is coming up.

90% of MLS students are involved with some kind of extracurricular throughout the year. Participation isn’t mandatory, but it is the norm. MLS students are both involved in the life of the school and active in the lives of their roommates and friends. The Seminary Family looks out for each other, and MLS provides many opportunities to focus those efforts in specific areas of interest that will engage each student and activate their gifts.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might!” (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

Student Clubs at MLS

Student Council

The MLS Student Council plans student-focused events and activities such as Homecoming, Winter Carnival, school dances, spirit days, and pep rallies.

Dorm Council

The Dorm Council is made up of dorm students who work closely with the MLS dorm staff and administration.

Art Club

In addition to being a group with a shared artistic interest, the art club decorates and beautifies our campus throughout the year, especially for our Christmas and Commencement Concerts.

Cardinal Ambassadors

These student recruiters travel with the admissions team to schools and churches to support MLS’s mission and encourage future cardinals.

Drama Club

Students involved in drama produce two major shows each year: A production in the fall and a Children’s Theater in spring. The MLS Drama Club includes not just actors, but also stage crew, makeup artists, costume makers, and more.

Yearbook

The yearbook team produces the annual record of the school’s events and activities, created entirely by students.

Red & White

Red & White is the MLS monthly newsletter distributed on campus and to our partner elementary schools to showcase the various activities and highlights at MLS.

Sight & Sound

Sight & Sound is the audio-visual club that supports chapel services and drama productions, as well as running the livestreams for chapel and sporting events.

Photography Club

Almost every photo you’ve seen on this website was taken by a student in our MLS photography club.

Project Titus Mission Trip Program

Since 1981, MLS students have traveled throughout the summer months to cities across the country and around the world. These trips offer an amazing opportunity for cross-cultural immersion and outreach experiences. Students often help organize and run various programs with their host congregations – soccer camps, music camps, Vacation Bible School, and more. Students gain real life experience in a mission field often very different from their own.

“MLS’s small-school environment was a huge benefit to me. While still offering many of the same opportunities as larger schools, I was able to participate in a wide variety of groups, sports, and organizations. These experiences helped me develop skills and characteristics that I will carry with me both in public ministry and in other areas of life. MLS does an excellent job of providing opportunities for everyone across many different interests.”
Andrew Luetzow, Graduate of MLS

Boarding and Dorm Life at MLS

Since many of our students come from areas where a daily commute is difficult or impossible, about two-thirds of the student body lives in the dormitory. The dorms are more than a place to sleep: MLS dorms offer unique and fun living experiences as students live together with friends and learn how to take responsibility for their daily routines.
